Lisbon

A really touristy day today. We were advised by our campsite receptionist which bus in to the centre we needed and where to go to the tourist office. Unfortunately being Sunday the tourist offices were closed and information was lacking. We set off to walk to see the famous Tram 28. A ticket office selling tickets was open and we spoke to the most helpful and friendly Brazilian man working there. We bought tickets for the yellow bus tour around Lisbon to see all the sights and save our feet. Then we took a tram trip to get the full tram experience of going up and down the steep streets.
Near the end of the tour , all the trams ground to a halt because one in front of us had broken down. A tram can’t go round or back up or turn round so we could either walk back to the town or wait. We walked. We needed food by then and went to a place recommended by our son. The Time Out Food Market. There are very long tables with chairs, everyone finds a seat next to perfect strangers and you order your food at one of the many food outlets. We counted about forty. These are very high quality places selling all sorts of Portuguese specialty foods . We loved it. Thanks Rich!
