Bergen #3

Floyen
Fløyen is one of the "city mountains" in Bergen.  Its highest point is 400 m (1,300 ft) above sea level.  The name originates from fløystangen which is a weather vane. It  was set up at the top of the hill to indicate the direction of the wind for sailing ships.

The view of the Bergen peninsula makes Fløyen a popular attraction among tourists and locals alike. It has a funicular system called Fløibanen that transports passengers from the centre of Bergen to a height of 320 m (1,050 ft) in roughly eight minutes.

Mrs CBL and I took the Fløibanen up to the viewing platform this morning and took in the views, which were stunning!  The early morning mist had burned away and we were blessed with another warm, sunny day.  After a while we wandered away from the viewpoint and had a short walk in the surrounding forest.
