At Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve

A day of extraordinary light, showing the variety of colours the sea loch here can show us. It all depends on the state of the tide, the presence or absence of seaweed, where the sandbanks are (they move about), and the colour of the sky.

That's the Littleferry peninsula over there. The first extra shows the Littleferry community, where we used to live. You can't see our old house though. It lies to the rear, facing the other coast. Littleferry's old name is Ferryoons, by the way.

And behind me as I take that shot is Skelbo castle (second extra) where, as local legend has it, the nobles of Scotland were waiting for the Maid of Norway. She died en route, the ship didn't sink and was never coming here anyway. But why let fact get in the way of a good story?
