Cross

For the first time in 10 months I have been able to cross the border out and back into Germany. Having recently received the necessary card I wanted to test it out. It was a strange experience to just walk across a border and wander a bit in Poland. It felt unusual to see yet another language written on displays. There was lots of traffic backwards and forwards for cheap petrol, cigarettes and booze. On the other side Frankfurt (Oder) bore the signs of the DDR with balcony styled Plattenbau. The mix of old and new styles of buildings was unexpected, lots of interesting features. The wooden balconies felt very alpine. 

German beurocracy being the beast that it is, the card doesn't fully work. I have emailed to find out but some things that could easily be done online are not possible. Meaning in person appointments which take forever are the only option. 

As always grateful for everything that works as it should but the one step forwards six steps backwards is a bit tedious.
