Silly Saturday ...

... ladybugs, ladybirds.  Everywhere. 

This morning I went back to check over the milkweed for monarch eggs or caterpillars ... even though I haven't seen any monarch butterflies yet this year. 

And I was greeted by what seems like hundreds of ladybugs or ladybirds depending on what you call them!  I took some pictures with my cell phone first before going to get my real camera.   I had to get Richard to hold back this milkweed stem so that I could get a better shot.  

I wasn't upset by seeing so many on the milkweed as they are very beneficial at controlling other insects.  They have an insatiable appetite for aphids as a matter of fact!
