In the old school yard

The old school yard of Cockington School is now a car park with electric charging points for the residents of Old Cockington School Mews, a small development of houses and flats utilising the old school. This morning a blue plaque was unveiled on the building by the Torbay Civic Society (extra). We used to live in this area and use the shops opposite the school 50 years ago. Nowadays instead of the butcher, baker and greengrocer, there is a tattooist, nail bar, vape shop, and believe it or not, a shop making and selling harps.  Afterwards we had refreshments in the Cafe del Mar, one of the shops built in 1880, and once a bakery.
Later after a hospital appointment checking on my lip, (still all clear), I had my first sea swim of the year - and found the ocean pleasantly warm.
A very good day
