Field of Stelae

The Field of Stelae is a memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. It contains 2711 concrete blocks of differing heights and is striking in its simplicity. The Information Centre movingly portrays the plight of the European Jews between 1933 and 1945. The most moving part is the Room of Names. Here the names and brief biographies of murdered and missing Jews from all over Europe can be heard. To listen to all the biographies it would take 6 years 7 months and 27 days.
