Shut the Gate, Mate,

It was with great relief after a busy year that Mr isbi handed over to a new Rotary president tonight.

To thank him they presented him with this very heavy plaque.
There is a funny story attached: It is an old railways sign and was lying around, rusty and barely legible, at the farm. The next time Larry visited it was still lying neglected in a corner of the shed so he "stole" it. He restored it, had it mounted and returned it as the traditional outgoing president's gift. We hadn't missed it but it will have pride of place at the farm now. And maybe remind Mr isbi to close gates.

There was another surprise in store. He always said he didn't want a Paul Harris Fellow award for outstanding community service.
He doesn't think you should get one for just being a good Rotarian.
But they gave him one anyway.
Personally I think it is well deserved, not just for being an extra good Rotarian but also for many other things he has done for the community over the years.
