(174) Leslie

This is a flying camera shot taken from above the village of Leslie, in Fife, and looking east over Glenrothes. The viaduct was built to carry a single track railway from Leslie to Markinch and opened in 1861. Most railway traffic, except for a few trains serving the local paper mill, ceased operation in 1967 and the viaduct is now part of Böblingen Way which is a walking/cycling route. The viaduct was designed by Thomas Bouch and has fared better than his design for the ill-fated Tay Rail Bridge.
