We visited this ancient walled town where the back of the church and houses formed part of the defence of this small but complete community.

There is not a single sign of wire, lighting or anything reflecting post 1700 technology and yet every building has all these benefits.

The little door in this picture is hiding the electric meter for example.

It is used widely in films including the Three Musketeers.
