Gentle Lakeland Day

My legs were feeling it today!
Our drive took us to the historic Ridal hotel gardens, with this 17th century grot and Ridal lower beck waterfall, famous as part of the ‘picturesque’ movement, and purportedly enjoyed by Wordsworth. 
Later we were pleasantly surprised by the Hardknott Roman Fort, quite extensive ruins and stunning backdrop of the Lakeland hills. I imagine it was a rather nice posting for a Roman solder.
