The Skirl of the Pipes

Another very bright and sunny day perfect conditions for a music festival.  The one Mrs CBL and I were attending was in Duthie Park in Aberdeen.  It was the European Pipe Band Championships and it was the first time it was being held in the city for over twenty years.

Ninety-one bands competed in four different grades of classification.  The overall winner was the Inveraray and District Pipe Band led by Pipe Major Stuart Liddell. 

As well as the grade events for the bands there was a Highland Dancing competition too.  We watched that as our great niece was competing in five separate dances.  She is a very talented dancer and was in top form which resulted in her being the overall champion!
