Vireo gilvus

Another nest! This one sits high in a tree off El Cap Meadow. I followed the sound of this singing Warbling Vireo and there he was, dutifully incubating. Just like Cassin's Vireo (another Valley breeder), this species builds hanging cup nests high in the forks of trees, and the male continues to sing throughout the season, even when sitting on the eggs. The song of the Warbling Vireo is one of the most common sounds on the Valley floor.
