Back in Herefordshire

We left our good friends in Devon and motored on up to Tintern Abbey to meet with Kevin, and had a small lunch in anticipation of our reservation at “Under the Nut Tree” in the evening. Brief stops in Usk for coffee and Monmouth followed by some very narrow country road drives to the countryside to the restaurant.

The restaurant is more of an outdoor garden party at the home of a jovial and hospitable couple, the husband, Australian and the wife local, who put on dinner Fridays and Saturdays with a set menu of starter, main and dessert. Atmosphere under the fairy lights with eclectic mix of popular music and the buzz of happy diners was enhanced by the perfectly attentive hosts and very tasty food with a highlight of crackling on roast pork from their elevated barbeque (see extra) with Thai red curry sauce. A very pleasant evening in the fresh air at perfect temperature when the sun went down.

Had a little concerned hiatus when I was removing the levellers from the van and somehow misplaced my keys. Frantic searching with phone lights eventually revealed I had put them up on the bed and so we finally returned to Woebley.
