Margate

After a morning of teaching it was out on a hot day and train down to London. The Flying Scotsman came through just before our train and my wife got some pictures as she was waiting. Changed in London for the train to Margate from St. Pancras. It was busy but emptied out as we worked our way along the coast. Out into the heat of Margate, and lots of police at the station. Turned out Will Young was playing Dreamland so park was closed for the evening. We heard him later. Dropped our bags and then over to the Turner Contemporary Gallery for Beatriz Milhazes exhibition which was excellent. Explored the town and had a fantastic pizza at 'The Curious Fox' in the market square area - made by a real Neapolitan pizza maker - perfect scorch marks and rise and lovely sauce and cheese. Found the old Lido, then back to the hotel as the heat built. Went out later as the sun was setting to return to the Gormley figure and see the iconic Dreamland ballroom - setting for the Sam Mendes film 'Empire of Light'. Back to hotel for some Glastonbury and fizz.
