Tochitura, mici, and fries.

We arrived in Bucharest after about 24 hours of traveling, and we are both dead tired since neither of us can sleep on planes. In our half-zombie states, we did manage to find a good place for a late lunch/early dinner and tried two traditional (and delicious) Romanian dishes. We each had the tochitura--stewed pork in a light tomato sauce, with polenta, egg, and a mild Romanian cheese. We shared the mici--a casingless beef and lamb sausage with thyme and other spices with a nice char from the grill.

This marks the beginning of a rather epic month long vacation that will include eight countries. We are spending three nights in Bucharest before embarking on a river cruise on the Danube, Main, and Rhine Rivers. We will end with a few days in Amsterdam.

And now to sleep...
