Terry’s cherries

We drove down a grassy track to an old cherry orchard of mostly venerable trees though there are some new plantings too. Terry had been there since five to scare off the birds to good effect as the trees were still festooned with cherries with traditional ladders propped here and there. Terry spoke with a really rural accent with no trace of estuary or cockney, hardly heard these days in Kent. Just outside Faversham.
And the cherries are good.
