While on my runs

Not collected this week

A couple of months ago Auckland City Council notified us and every other household in a number of areas of Council's intention to collect food scraps separately from thw weekly garbage collection. We were supplied with these bins. The little one was intended to be in one's kitchen to collect the scraps; Council provided a number of pink biodegradable bin liners. Full bags are to be put in the larger bin whic would be collected separately but on the same day as the garbage collection.

I have a compost bin out the back which has been very welcoming of most of our scraps, but this new service is welcome for when the scraps shouldn't be n the compost bin. What with the recycling bin as well, our general garbage bin needs emptying only once a month or less often. This week I put in a black bag full of tradescantia removed from where it was strangling other plants.

Don't know why the food scraps bin was not emptied; none was in our street.
