One day at a time

Fire!

This is the older fire station in Melrose. It is used as a sports changing room (I think) nowadays.
It has an old air raid siren on the roof which is most unusual. Unfortunately it used to have a sign above the door which was attached by drilling holes into the stones. It should have been attached by drilling into the gaps between the stones, but hey-ho.
This station was replaced by a far more modern and larger building just up the road, which in turn has been decommissioned and is used by the Mountain Rescue team. Fire service is now provided by another station some miles away in a different town. This is happening a lot as cost savings are demanded.
