South Coast Scribblings

Haddon Hall

Visited this astonishing old manor house this morning.  It is ancient and some of it dates back to the 12th century.  A guide book was in our holiday home and my husband read up on it before we went.  He then gave us a guided tour!

The extras are:
a reredos screen from the 1400s,
old cupboards in which food was put outside for the poor,
A screen with Henry VII and wife depicted on it (early 1500s).
The ancient chapel with wall paintings from the late 1300s/early 1400s.
A view of the outside and river Wye.

We stopped for a lunch break, and I sat on a bench - and was immediately stung by a wasp!  A wasp in June!  It was so painful we just went straight home (Paul was exhausted anyway, so we thought we would just pay again and go back tomorrow!
