Mona Vale

The well-loved Christchurch homestead Mona Vale, beside the Avon River, was looking splendid in the winter sun this morning. It is a heritage-listed building constructed around 1900.

 In extras, see the Avon River just near Mona Vale, where a  newly-constructed rock riffle (a long ramp with a gentle gradient) has been built over the old weir.  This is to allow native and sport fish to easily move to and from the river’s upper catchment.  Rocks are placed strategically to cater for weak and strong swimming fish, also to create resting places.
