Stunned

At least I think that was what was wrong with this poor birdie who I found on the cobbles outside the conservatory door - he was sitting very still and breathing hard.

I decided that the best policy was to leave him where he was, so I kept the dogs in and left him to it for half an hour. By then he seemed to have calmed down a bit and was able to hop a few steps, but not take off.

After a little while longer and some gentle encouragement he took off, and flew away over the hedge... I think he's going to be ok.

Anyone know what it is?


Also discovered that my portrait lens can focus really close - which I had failed to notice before.
