Replacement windows

A visit to Hughenden Manor this morning mainly to see the rose garden. Hughenden was the home of Benjamin Disraeli. The former Prime Minister is buried in the nearby churchyard at St Michael and All Angels and the church contains several Disraeli memorials including a magnificent east window by Clayton & Bell. There were a number of interesting stained glass windows. One commemorates two young brothers who died in the Crimean War and another commemorates the foiled assassination attempt on Queen Victoria in 1882. My photograph is of the north chapel window which is was installed in 1949, the original window having been destroyed by a V2 rocket in August 1944. It incorporates the Disraeli coat of arms.
