More Red Kites

Thursday 29th June 2023

The weather was glorious today, typical! We had been told how good the red kite place was near Aberystwyth so we decided to head in that direction and call in at New Quay on the way to see the dolphins again.

We tried to walk the coastal path to see seals and other birds but came upon a dead end. Instead, we returned to the harbour and spent an hour on the sea wall watching and waiting ... but no show. Well, perhaps we were pushing out luck seeing them at the harbour twice. It was nice and relaxing to sit in the sun though.

We then moved on to Bwlch Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre, near Aberystwyth. It is a lovely area up in the hills, with a lake and woodlands. They feed the kites one side of the lake and you can watch from the other so it is a stunning location and we really enjoyed it. We had also taken some advice from a pro we met on Sunday. I thought I had put it in to practice but I still got a lot of burred shots. However, I was very pleased with this one. I thought it could be competition worthy but, being extra critical, I am not so sure.

It was a long way to drive but we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Another evening spent working on our photos.
