Highly Unsprung

All at sea..with minke whales

Our final full day in Shetland and once again, a day full of surprises and firsts. Boat trip postponed from Monday was perfect blue skies and calm seas and we were treated to diving gannets, seals galore, Bressay’s cliffs and….minke whales….surrounding us. Not just one but several. Amazing experience, we felt so lucky.  And walking through Lerwick to get to the boat trip who did we finally see – the one and only Tommy, who had eluded us all week, I was over the moon to get a cuddle, though I was a bit miffed he was more interested in Dave.
What’s not to like in Shetland, air, sea, landscapes, wildlife galore – and new jaikets – an in-your-face raspberry birthday tweed cape for me, teal and grey canvass cosiness for Dave and Sam. All that’s left to do is pack up and head to the overnight Ferry to Aberdeen.
I will never not love Shetland, what a place.
