The spell of dry sunny weather is over for the moment, its demise coinciding with the arrival of my Porty swimming companion and her husband. Fortunately it was relatively sunny yesterday evening when we dined at the Ferry Inn and ate what seemed all the mussels in the North Sea , but although it started bright for our swim this morning, the rain was never far away and is now a permanent feature outside my window.

Nearly all the houses on the Street in Stromness have tubs of flowers at their doorsteps or on their window ledges. This blip is of the tubs on steps to a flat on my walk to the slip.
