The “New” Inn

Like all things, it must’ve been new at some point!

Continuing to try to catch up on my blips from our trip to England even though we’re back home now! It’s good to look back on!

This is from the day we had our little nostalgia visit to the beautiful city of Salisbury.

We took our usual walk through the woods and across the river Avon into the city center. There is still construction work being done on the ongoing improvements to the riverside area on the way, so we had to take some detours. Hopefully by our next visit it might be finished.

As it was Tuesday Market Day, we wandered round the biweekly open air market and purchased a gift for Dan as it’s his birthday a few days after we get back.

We decided to have lunch first then carry on to the Cathedral Close.

We have dined at this pub a few times in the past, (recommended by my sister, “janetchie”), and enjoyed the view of the cathedral spire from the lovely gardens out back. But this time they were out of so many items on the menu that we ended up just having a drink. I had a passion fruit gin and tonic and went in search of another establishment to eat in.

We found another excellent pub just a few yards down called “The Wig and Quill”, which also had a beautiful garden out back (without the famous view). We had whitebait to start with and fish and chips to follow.

After that we enjoyed the wide open spaces surrounding the cathedral and commenced our long walk home. I was very tired by the time we got back to the Black Knight!
