A trip out to Harewood House, a remarkable place that openly acknowledges and shares stories of how the family accumulated wealth, often in the most horrific ways. And so they now tell these stories and pose questions for us all. Their most recent exhibition is Reframing Reynolds. I wasn’t looking forward to it but found it engrossing. Brilliant! His paintings are described as “selfies”! He is described as;

“No ordinary painter …. a pioneer of portraiture … his paintings were highly staged … he was deliberately entertaining.”

And we walked away feeling that today’s imagery is not so different from 300 years ago.
