A Meandering Life...

A Mighty Hike

Today we travelled over to Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales to see our niece/cousin take part in a Macmillan Cancer Support Mighty Hike.

She and a couple of friends started in Malham at 07:30am and we met up at Linton Falls Bridge just south of Grassington at 12:30pm. This was at about the 12 mile mark of the 27 mile walk. We hear they finished before the 12 hour mark.

Well done to Annie and her friends Kailey and Nic and of course to the 100's of others who also did the walk. As we waited for them to get to where we were it was funny to hear the walkers say 'Hi' as they past us then 'WOW' immediately as they saw the bridge and falls.  :o)

It was about 40 years ago I did The Dales Way between Dent and Addingham to raise money for a youth group I ran. I remember crossing this bridge and staying in the then YHA in Linton for our last night on that trek. It's going things like this that stays in your memory for the rest of your life.
