Wish You Were Here

I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out how to get a deckled edge on this image. You can see how far I got. Any suggestions? I want it to look like an old postcard/print.

I thought this beach scene looked like it was from some exotic country—it’s because of that turquoise water. It’s the same ocean we have just an hour north, but we don’t have that exquisite clear color anywhere. So we’re in Pacific Grove, just south of Monterey, taking a stroll on a lovely ocean path. I can smell Coppertone and coconut oil. Ice cream drips down little hands and faces. Families are cooking great smelling food on portable stoves over there on the grass. It is finally summer. On the way home we drive through fog so thick that it obscures the trees and farms along the highway. That is summer too.
