Out and About

Fisher Tarn Dam

The dam was built in 1896 to make a reservoir to provide water to Kendal but now its a fishing lake. The dam and the small building that houses machinery to work the sluice gates, are Grade 2 listed. The water levels must be low today because there is no water pouring down through the aches.  I can see from photos on-line that it looks much more impressive with a waterfall below the arches. Still,  it was an unexpected bit of history to stumble upon, on the old Kendal to Sedbergh road.
PS,  extra - a typical British summer day at the Golf Club BBQ.  Mr P didn't win anything
