secret garden

We headed off to Myross this morning to check out the sustainable market, a monthly event organised by CECAS : Centre of Excellence for Climate Action and Sustainability. It is held in the amazing and expansive grounds of Myross House, once a retreat for Missionaries of the Sacred Heart but now a community woodland resource for biodiversity, education, recreation and the arts. The house is massive and dates from the late 19C I'd guess and behind it are endless rather ugly more modern extensions now dilapidated. The grounds are magnificent though - a huge wildly overgrown walled garden, 43 acres of forestry, paths going down to the sea. The grotto was an unexpected surprise and a rather lovely one with the waterfall. As was the enormous rock arch - the priests obviously favoured a grand entrance. The market had a very relaxed and pleasant vibe with plants, bric a brac, and homemade goodies.
