At Glyndebourne Opera

Last night Luke, Meriel and Adam all arrived for the weekend. It was lovely to have supper with them last night and to spend time with them again. I had a good nights sleep in my own bed last night and woke up feeling refreshed, so Gavin and I went for a run with Xena which was a good way to start the day.

After breakfast I was busy in the kitchen making food for our picnic lunch at Glyndebourne Opera. I prefer to make our own picnic as I can make food that we like and also cater for our dietary preferences. In the past we have ordered a picnic made there, and on another visit we have eaten in one of the restaurants, but nothing beats picnicking on the lawn in the sunshine enjoying the views over the garden and the surrounding fields all dressed up!

We left in good time to get to Glyndebourne as the gardens opened at 2pm with the performance of Don Giovanni starting around 4pm. We were worried about the weather but it was sunny, although very windy and cooler than it has been. Meriel and I changed our planned outfits at the last minute so that we would not get cold sitting outside in the wind. We set up our picnic and ate our late lunch, then wandered around the gardens. See the extra of our picnic and a very glamorous couple!

The opera was well done, at Glyndebourne they always seem to modernise their operas and this opera felt very current when one considers the  #MeToo movement and the sexual predator that Don Giovanni was.

Adam left from there to drive back to Cambridge and we drove home with Luke and Meriel, who got the train back to London. In our absence Xena was looked after by our neighbour's daughter who gave her a third walk for the day and her supper.

It has been a very busy but lovely weekend.  We don’t often have such busy weekends, they are fun but exhausting. Its a bit crazy when such exciting things all happen on the same weekend. All back to normal tomorrow!
