Evening primrose

Oenothera glazioviana, flourishing at a Saughton Allotment .

Cycled over there by way of the Rose Garden ; we looked at the Physic garden there and talked about what it takes to have a group of volunteers do something cooperative long term. Shared gardens are a strong motivator.

To the allotments, which are shared in a different way - there are more than 180 plots, so there's always people moving, plots falling into disuse, and being restarted. It's a fine area for wildlife, in a loop of the Water of Leith, between more green space at the prison and the cemetery.

Back by the West End. Showery for the rest of the day, and windy.
