Splash!

Yesterday I watched the male pigeons puffing up their chests and doing a sort of dance to impress the females and today at the harbour I watched gulls doing their best to attract a partner. There was continual calling and constant splashing as the birds dipped beneath the surface and came up, then either gobbled up a fish or tried to hang on to it before others made a grab for the fish so I wonder if this was part of a courtship activity. Meanwhile I took a photo of one proudly swimming around holding a bit of seaweed presumably to offer a potential mate but decided this picture shows more action.
