After The Birdhouse

To Ross poultry market today, with farmingemma who was on the lookout to buy chicks of a very particular breed of chicken.
Partly inspired by reading The Birdhouse, a photo essay on poultry markets by photojournalist & tutor, Ken Grant,
I tried to capture a little bit of the atmosphere of the market...farmers watching, buyers dealing, and auction staff doing their jobs, all centered on the small birds in their boxes. Keeping poultry is quite a popular hobby, unknown to me until recently, so the cross section of people at the sales is remarkable. Stereotypical farmers and smart families mixing with the common thread of the many birds awaiting their new lives.
