Open The Sluice Gates

A walk around Springfield Mill in the evening, I would love to have seen exactly what these ruins looked like with all the water flowing through these gates.

We were on our way back from the vets for a catch up about Arlo’s rear legs, this time with someone more specialised in orthopaedics. We did some walking in the car park for Arlo to be observed first. Although initially suspected to be cruciate ligament disease, he went through the x-rays with us to suggest he didn't think it was that, which was a bit of a relief given the surgery required.

Instead he suspects it is related to his gait, as he has an unusual walk apparently, with rear legs a bit further apart and a bouncy trot, and we just thought he was happy! Without further x-rays etc he can't be sure, but it could be spine or discs or something else. So for now, we have to build back to normal walks over 10 days then he can be off lead, and we take it from there. If it gets worse, then onto x-rays.

It's a bit of a weight off our minds and we’ll see how it goes. That's 5 weeks of restricted walks he’s had and he has coped better than we thought he would with so much energy to burn, but no doubt he can't wait for the, er.., sluice gates to er… open.
