Leavers' Day

A big day, the official Leavers' Day at school, marking the rite of passing of leaving the Upper Sixth. It is hard to believe my little boy is now all grown up; I saw him walking up the path with his friends, and thought it was a lovely image, symbolic of them walking off to the next stage.
It was always emotional as the students, staff and some parents minister in Leavers' Meeting, but I am always wrung out meeting the family of the late Jorge Hortal, who return every year to present an award in his memory.
