A narrow escape

The name of this statue is "A dime on its side" what's in Dutch: "Een dubbeltje op zijn kant" meaning a narrow escape.  I think it a beautiful statue along this river Hollandse IJssel.

It's made by the late sculptor Roel Bendijk and stands here 20 years now in memory of the fact that captain Arie Evegroen forced his ship here in the dyke that was broken by the storm of February 1st 1953 Thus he saved the land behind this dyke from flooding; the waters would have reached up to Leiden if this hadn't been successful.

Another windy day here, however in the afternoon that eased off.

Sweetheart is managing alright, altho' he gets impatient with the healing.
