Day 185/23. Belsay Hall and Castle

Following his honeymoon, Sir Charles Monck was inspired by Greek and Italian architecture and designed Belsay Hall. Using stone quarried from the gardens to build the hall, it was completed in 1817.
We visited today, lovely gardens and a castle in the grounds. The house itself is pretty bland.... The interiors are empty. See extra pictures.
Not everyone has a castle in their garden....... and not everyone has a garden that can be quarried to build their house.....
