Daylight fades on 4th July

American Independence Day ended with an impressive display of fireworks at Bradley Park in San Marcos which I was able to watch from a grass terrace outside houses on Chris’s complex.

Admiration of the fireworks was rudely and hilariously interrupted for many people sitting on the terrace when, without warning, all the sprinklers went off causing rapid exiting to the path. I was standing on a low wall and was unaffected until I had to cross the grass area and was similarly sprayed.

Tonight is my last night in California, this time tomorrow, all being well, I will somewhere between Pheonix and Heathrow.

We travelled to Oceanside in expectation on a July 4th parade only to find it happened over two weeks ago??? Nevertheless we had a coffee and a walk along the coast and the Oceanside Pier (extra) Plenty of people enjoying the holiday atmosphere with their barbecues and gazebos.

To make up for the non parade we had a barbecue ourselves at the complex pool which was enjoyable. Several groups were likewise enjoining the facilities.
