Mad Alice Lane

The inner sanctum of 'Mad Alice Lane' (the ginnel continues on behind where this picture was taken). So-called because a lady called Alice lived here until 1825, when she was hanged at York Castle for being mad.

It's a good job we've stopped all that hanging mad people business, because otherwise we'd never get anything done.
