Two Wongs get it right

When Feng and Jun Wong opened the very first Chinese takeaway way back in 1907, little did they know what a Blackrock institution it would become.

The numbers speak for themselves:

1907 - grand opening of Wongs kitchen
1922 - Feng invents the microwave oven. Two days later Jun invents the spring rolls reheated in the microwave
1939 - the Wongs decide that chips and curry sauce have their place on a Chinese takeaway menu. They were dead wright.
1958 - Jun decides that 51 years is the maximum life span for the oil in which they fry their prawn crackers. She changes the oil that was used since the grand opening.
1973 - Feng discovers that there is very very little difference between crispy duck and crispy pigeon, when doused with sticky plum sauce. The pigeon population in the nearby park starts declining, to the greatest delight of the council
1992 - chip and pin payments are implemented by the vast majority of businesses in Ireland. The Wongs invent the "card machine out of order - cash payments only" sign
1997 - after 90 years in business, Feng and Chun decide to retire at the ages of 106 and 108 respectively and pass the reins to their children Wendy and Gao
2006 - the Wongs  discover that there is very very little difference between crispy pigeon and crispy seagull, when doused with sticky plum sauce. The seagull population in the nearby park starts declining, to the greatest delight of the council
2012 - Wendy invents the Spice Bag. Generations of overweight kids in the area will be forever indebted to her
2020 - Not to be outdone, Gao invents the Munchy Box for family looking for a balanced diet and an alternative to seven days of Spice Bag meals

You know you're in the right place when you're in the Wongs Kitchen!
