Hällingsåfallet - Hällings beck waterfall

Another great day which started with breakfast and a view over a lake and mountains. Close to a very quiet road, with a good breeze to keep the bugs at bay.
Our first stop was Hällingsåfallet, a spectacular waterfall with the waterfall pouring into a deep canyon of slate. A very powerful place with the roaring fall, clouds of spray, and rainbows.
There were a lot of other people visiting but that didn’t detract from the experience, in fact it added another element to see people of all ages and sizes enjoying the same natural wonder.
In one sense this was our last “Wilderness Route“ experience as we are now headed home, down from the mountains and into the inland forest on our way to the coast. But of course the experiences continue. We stopped for lunch right above one of the many dams (the road crossed the same dam). A cool (chilly?) wind filled the van as we ate a delicious and healthy lunch and we wrote up the place as having good overnight possibilities.
We drove on downwards. Pine trees appeared in the forest, the many wild lupins were seeding rather than flowering, and new flowers appeared on the verges. Jan took over the driving and I searched for a place to camp for the night. Eventually, just as we both were getting tired we found a lovely spot 100m from the small road, right next to some gorgeous water. A short walk in the setting sun finished a great day. In a few moments I’ll publish a couple of extras from that walk.
Time for bed!
Extras posted  The floating island, and rosebay willowherb (fireweed).
