Jerusalem Cross

I went back to visit my donkey boys today - I probably did too much (but I was really careful).  

Lots of donkeys have a cross on their backs and the reasons why are, shall we say, a little iffy.

The one legend/myth that I keep finding is something like this " the donkey that carried Jesus into Jerusalem was cast a shadow of the cross that Jesus was crucified on (because he couldn't bear seeing Jesus suffer)".

Hmm.  Whatever the truth of the story is, lots of donkeys have crosses  on their backs and it's become known as a Jerusalem Cross.   

I got a lovely greeting from both Emil & Janosch - Urmel is a bit more stand-offish but we had a lovely hour together.  I promise you there is nothing more satisfying than making pudding for donkeys - they just love you for that mix of apples and carrots.
