Six-spot Burnet Moth .....

..... enjoying a moment of rest on a Creeping Thistle.
The Creeping Thistle is our most common species of Thistle and provides a food source for a range of insects and birds.

The six-spot is a day flying moth and is the most widely distributed burnet moth in the UK. In Scotland it tends to favour coastal areas which is exactly where I spotted this one as Keta and I made our home from West Bay.
