Old and new in Merida

I had meant to post a lovely picture of the Roman Amphitheatre Steve and I visited once before.  However I hadn’t factored in 40 degree heat and the fact my hotel was a little out of town.  I did managed into the centre but kept having to shelter in various cafes and sit beside their air conditioning.  The photo is the remains of the Acueducto de los Milagros (Aqueduct of Miracles).  It was built during the 1st century AD to supply water from the Proserpina Dam to the ancient Roman colony of Emerita Augusta.  I wonder if Thames Water will stand the same test of time?
