Golden Toe

I don't know if David Hume was considered especially lucky when he was alive but since his statue arrived on Edinburgh's Royal Mile his toe has become something of a people magnet. Student of philosophy are said to come from far and wide to touch the toe of the great man before their exams - a practice which Hume himself would probably disapprove of.
