The first of the year!

Today was Whale Day and we went out on the Whale Watching Boat with our friends Myra and Sabine.  It was absolutely exhilarating and we were thrilled when the captain announced that we were all witnessing their first sighting of the season of a Southern Right Whale.  He literally came up under the boat and surprised everyone, including the crew.  They seemed to be as excited as we were to see the first of the season.  We have been lucky enough to see whales breaching from our living room deck but nothing compares to having a whale surface right next to the boat.  I have added an extra so you can see how close they came.
