Southsea

We dropped Harry off at kennels and then drove down to Portsmouth ahead of tonight’s ferry. We parked at Gunwharf Quays and walked along the front (following, sort of, the Chain Link Walk) to Southsea, stopping by the South Parade Pier to buy a cup of tea and drink it on the beach – and watching some lads climb up the seaward end of the pier and throw themselves back in as we did so. Afterwards, we walked back, stopping at the Clarence Pier for ice cream (and avoiding the nostalgic lure of a surviving Wimpy Bar.) We did a bit of shopping at the Mall (running gear, tragically enough), had tea at Zizzi’s and then drove to the Ferry Dock predictably early. Onboard we found our decent, comfy cabin, hit the bar for a couple of Oranginas and had a – very cursory – check out of the facilities before hitting the hay…
